Free School Meal Program to continue for 2026-2027 School Year

South Washington County Schools will continue participating in Minnesota's Free School Meals Program for the 2026–2027 school year. Through this state-funded program, all students are eligible to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day while attending school in person.

Students must select a complete reimbursable meal to receive their free breakfast or lunch. Additional items purchased outside of the school meal, such as extra entrées, beverages, snacks, or other à la carte items, are not included in the program and require funds in the student's meal account.

Families are encouraged to complete the Educational Benefits Application if they believe they may qualify. Approved applications may provide access to additional benefits, including reduced or waived fees for activities and athletics, discounts on instrument rentals and eligibility for other educational and community resources.

As student participation in school meals continues to grow, we are committed to providing nutritious, high-quality meals to all students. If you are interested in joining our Nutrition Services team, we encourage you to apply today.

Students Meal Accounts and Pin Numbers

Students will continue to use their student PIN numbers when receiving meals and purchasing à la carte items.

PIN numbers can be found in your Parent Portal account.

Tip:  Help your child learn their PIN number before the start of the school year. Many families find it helpful to use the PIN as their child's device login code when appropriate.

Parents have 3 options for handling any remaining lunch balance after graduation.

  1. Request a refund check, only if the amount of the balance is $10.00 or more.
  2. Balances may be transferred to another student's lunch account.
  3. Donate the balance to the Food Service Support Fund account to support students in need  of assistance.

Prior to contacting Nutrition Services please remove any automatic payments in SchoolCafe.
