After School Targeted Services
South Washington County Schools Targeted Services provide K-8 students with access to summer and extended day experiences that advance achievement, strengthen connections within the school community, and affirm potential.
Targeted services instruction is designed to maximize student success and engagement. A variety of classes, taught by licensed teachers at no cost to families, incorporate STEM, literacy, mathematics, physical activity, computer science, the arts, and social/emotional learning. The curriculum is scaffolded to provide students with opportunities for support and enrichment as they advance through grade-level standards. Teachers collaborate annually with families of eligible students to develop Continual Learning Plans (CLPs) that define individualized goals and communicate progress.
Our after-school program gives students a boost in academics and helps them strengthen social-emotional skills. This program is designed to help supplement your child’s learning at school with engaging hands-on and activity-based curriculum.
Students must receive an invitation to participate. This program is for students in fifth grade.
Students will engage in problem solving to develop greater number sense and perseverance in math while embracing the struggle that often comes with doing math. Each session will include opportunities for students to use and build mathematical skills, understanding, and competence through engaging discussions and tasks. We will explore topics that will enhance their work in class and focus on ways to help them realize their ability to do mathematics.
